Indianapolis Colts Take On Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action

Hello, football fans. Wie gehts? Everything good I trust on this fine morning kickoff to the tenth week coming straight outta Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on soil in Germany and the first in the capital city.

Pregame Key Moments

As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A slight fluff from the broadcast team there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.

So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a difficult performance in their last game?

Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the national anthem of Germany. Classy.

First Quarter Gameplay

Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter

And we're off! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back catches a screen pass, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then fumbles … only for his center to save his bacon with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.

Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter

And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!

Touchdown Recap

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.

A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.

A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets Jonathan Taylor up to easily run for a touchdown on the next snap. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Oops.

Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07

Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by marching his Falcons down the field for a score of their own. The wide receiver makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.

Other Week 10 Matchups

And for afters, the jumbo package starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Carolina Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Bears v Giants (2-7)

  • (3-5) Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)

  • (2-7) Dolphins v Bills (6-2)

  • (4-4) Vikings v Ravens (3-5)

  • (1-7) Jets v Browns (2-6)

  • (6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Patriots (7-2)

An exciting lineup. I’m planting my flag on the Vikings and Ravens playing out the game of the day.
