Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court after March of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early chances in a competitive final set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
